We may not all be parents or grandparents, but the one thing we all have in common is we are all grandchildren. Hence, For the Grandchildren creates digital family keepsakes for everyone!
Most of our contributors are grandparents or great-grandparents, so it’s important for a sponsor to be involved!
We’ll start with an introductory call to determine your goals and choose a suitable DFK package. For the Grandchildren (FTG) will then contact you to schedule your 60-minute interview date and time.
FTG will produce your Digital Family Keepsake and send it to you within 15 business days after the interview.
Yes, you own the rights to your Digital Family Keepsake for personal use (not for commercial use to sell).
Anyone you love and whose stories you want to be captured!
Should your loved one have memory issues, be hard of hearing, be unfamiliar with technology or any other reason to be hesitant, feel free to reach out and we can explore ways to guide them through the process with ease. A great solution is to have you or another family member join for the interviews to help relay questions clearly to the Storyteller. Our interviews can also be done with loved ones talking and reminiscing about the Storyteller, instead of directly with the Storyteller.
You can be as involved or hands-off as you wish! However, there are three things we ask from all clients to ensure the project is a success:
- A quick Introductory Call with our team to discuss how we can create your perfect Digital Family Keepsake.
- Your approval of the written content, layout and design of the eBook. This is a great time to check things like names and dates, and make suggestions for edits or changes. One round of editing is included in your package.
- Photos! Submit up to 12 digital images to be included in your Digital Family Keepsake eBook or Video
You are also invited to:
- join your parent or loved one to listen in on their interview.
- Join the interview yourself
Your DFK will be delivered to you within 15 business days after the interview.
Interviews are currently conducted in English.
For other languages, we can arrange a translator, and often a sponsor will volunteer to act as a translator.
We recommend storing your video in multiple places, including a cloud storage provider like Google Drive or Dropbox and locally.
For the Grandchildren provides a secure link to your DFK. Share the link – share the legacy.
You should download your DFK as the secure link expires after 180 days.
Many of our interviewees are older and not comfortable with computers. FTG can support and guide interviewees with technical issues, including joining a call, video, lighting and audio settings.
We encourage interviewees to have someone at hand who can take care of the technology so they may feel at ease and focus on their story.
Yes! Our main intention is for our interviews to provide an honest and eye-opening look at a person for their loved ones and descendants.
FTG uses commercial studio-quality conferencing software to produce professional HD video and audio quality.
We encourage the sponsor to ensure a strong internet connection, quality webcam and microphone are in place in advance of the interview.
At the beginning of each interview, we help the interviewee to set lighting, sound, and camera positions.
We know that life happens, so we’ll happily reschedule the first missed interview.
The second no-show will result in a $50 USD fee. This is designed to respect everyone’s time and energy.
Once we complete an interview our production team begins transcribing and editing within 24 hours.
For scheduled interviews, clients can cancel 48 hours before the interview time for a full refund.
If a client has attended their interview and chooses to cancel the project before we begin editing, a $200 (USD) admin fee will be incurred and the balance refunded.
If a client has attended the interview and we have commenced transcription and editing, there is no refund.
